Fish Identification

The ocean is filled with fascinating and beautiful fish of every shape and size. Learn how to identify fish and get more out of your dives with the SSI Fish Identification specialty program.

The world’s oceans are home to thousands of fish species, and you will encounter plenty of these fascinating creatures on your dives! In this course, you will be taught all the skills and concepts you need to identify common families of Caribbean, Indo-Pacific and Red Sea reef fish. Upon completion, you will earn your SSI Fish Identification specialty certification.

Student prerequisites are as follows:
If in-water training is conducted, snorkel students must be a minimum of 6 years old and have a snorkel diver certification.
Scuba students must be a minimum of 10 years old and have the referral diver certification or equivalent from a recognized training agency.
